Social media has been buzzing following severe traffic jams on the Agbor-Benin section of the expressway, worsened by heavy rains, failed roads, and construction, which have left vehicles stuck since at least August 23.
Videos circulating online show passengers mourning spoiled perishable goods, such as a full bus load of catfish worth millions of naira that perished inside vehicles, while drivers carve out bush paths to escape.
The chaos has sparked widespread frustration, debates over infrastructure and leadership, and calls for urgent action from residents and travelers.

This is why I won’t blame anyone who’d rather put their money in fixed income than build a business here. Bad roads, Insecurity, No power, so diesel. Two years’ rent upfront. Banks Loans at 30% interest rate. Staff who leave in six months. All outside your control, all have to go right at once. But I agree the economy still needs risk takers, just make sure you go in with your eyes open.
