A resurfaced video featuring the three daughters of Nigerian billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote has attracted attention online after Halima Dangote explained why she and her sisters have maintained a low profile despite growing up in a wealthy family.
The video, which was widely circulated on X on Saturday, was taken from Bloomberg’s Next Africa special featuring Dangote’s daughters, Halima, Mariya and Fatima. The interview was filmed at the family’s home in Lagos and published by Bloomberg in August 2026.
In the clip, Halima said she and her sisters had intentionally kept out of the spotlight, preferring to allow their professional achievements to speak for them.
“We are not spoilt,” she said.
Explaining her remark, Halima said, “Any time we meet with our co-peers — like the kids of our dad’s friends, or people that we’re supposed to — we don’t… I mean, everyone has his own job. We are more… we’re quiet in the sense that we don’t say who we are.
“It’s, I don’t know if it’s fortunate or unfortunate, now people recognise us. But it was easier when we were not recognised; you know, our results speak for themselves.”
She noted that while some people were comfortable with public attention and sharing their lives on social media, she and her sisters were less inclined to publicly display their wealth and possessions.
“I mean, some people are really comfortable with social media, with being known, with being expressive. I don’t think we are — all three of us are not expressive of what we have or what we own or what we’re doing,” she said.
According to Halima, the sisters preferred to have their professional performance and achievements speak for them.
“I think, like Fatima and Mariya said, the results are just the ones speaking for themselves: the sale of this business, the profit of this, the EBITDA, our growth, growing to $100 billion. We are all in those key positions and, I mean, numbers don’t lie,” she added.
The remarks have since generated reactions from social media users, with some commending the sisters for maintaining a low-key approach to their family’s wealth and public profile.
Reacting to the video, an X user, #Khaleelmuhd111, said Dangote had done well in keeping his children “from controversy and out of the spotlight,” while also giving them leadership roles in his businesses.
Another user, #MaameAfibaBessa, described the sisters as “intelligent and fine women” who were successfully running businesses, while criticising questions about whether Dangote planned to have a male child.
“This is the definition of wealth, now Aliko can sleep with his eyes closed,” #Sirdipson wrote.
Similarly, #MukAli_14 interpreted Halima’s remarks as a reflection of humility among wealthy people, writing, “People with money, real money are always humble.”
However, #BulusPaul9 focused on the sisters’ comments about social media, writing, “Who cares about SM, many of us just come to see the world from another angle and catch cruise with some frustrated country people. Real-life experience and enjoyment is OFFLINE.”
PUNCH Online reports that Dangote’s daughters, Halima, Fatima and Mariya, hold senior positions within the Dangote Group, with their responsibilities expanding as the conglomerate develops its succession structure.
Dangote had previously said he could see one of his daughters eventually leading the group.
Asked whether he could see one of them taking charge of the conglomerate, Dangote said, “I think, yes, I can see one of them. I’ve been watching all of them, so I can definitely see one of the three that can actually lead.
