Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have arrested two suspected suppliers of logistics to terrorists and recovered a large quantity of motorcycle spare parts and other items allegedly meant for Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters operating in the Yunusari-Mobbar general area.
The Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Mohammed Goni, said in a statement issued in Maiduguri that the operation was carried out on Tuesday following credible human intelligence on the movement of suspected terrorist logistics supplies.
Acting on the information, troops of 159 Battalion under Sector 2 OPHK, alongside other security personnel, mobilised a fighting patrol and intercepted the suspected consignment at Gumsa Bridge in Geidam Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The items recovered included large quantities of motorcycle tyres, crankshafts, oil seals, traffic indicators, acceleration and clutch cables, bearings, brake components, gaskets, piston kits, chains and sprockets, speedometers, clutch plates, rocker arms, CDI units, coils, rectifiers, fuel-related components and other motorcycle spare parts.
The troops also recovered 145 pairs of footwear and two Tecno Android phones, among other items.
According to the statement, the suspects and recovered items have been handed over to the 27 Military Intelligence Regiment for further investigation and necessary action.
“The successful interception represents another effort by troops to disrupt terrorist logistics networks and deny them critical supplies required to sustain their activities”, the statement added.
The Joint Task Force said it remains committed to dismantling terrorist support networks across the North East Theatre.
It also urged members of the public to continue providing credible and timely information to security agencies to support ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
