Troops kill three Boko Haram fighters

Troops from Sector Two of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have killed three Boko Haram insurgents during a clearance operation in Borno Yesu, near Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno State.

The operation, which took place in Bulabulin Forest, involved a combined force of Sector Two troops, the Nigerian Air Force, a Special Forces tactical team, and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force.

Theatre Commander of OPHK, Major General Abdulsallam Abubakar, confirmed that the troops neutralised the insurgents following a fierce gunfight, while several others fled with gunshot wounds.

“Our troops, guided closely by the Air Component Command and supported by the Civilian Joint Task Force, engaged Boko Haram elements in Bulabulin Forest. The operation resulted in the death of three terrorists, while others escaped with injuries,” he said.

Recovered items included two new motorcycles, AK-47 rifles, four fully loaded magazines, 120 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, grenades, two bandoliers, and combat packs.

Abubakar added that Sector Two, which operates across parts of Borno and Yobe States, has maintained long-range patrols and continuous offensives around the Timbuktu Triangle, a known terrorist stronghold.

“Troops from Sector Two are combing the forest around the Timbuktu Triangle, which serves as a hideout for terrorists. Many previously trapped communities are now being liberated,” he added.

He further noted that Borno Yesu, one of the many communities devastated by Boko Haram attacks, is now being gradually reclaimed through the ongoing military operations.
