Troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS), in collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS), have arrested a suspected high-profile arms dealer in Taraba State.
The operation, conducted near Ambassador Roundabout in Wukari Local Government Area, led to the apprehension of 29-year-old Bulyami Shuaib, a native of Belango Village in Karim Lamido LGA.
According to a press statement by Umar Muhammad, Public Relations Officer of 6 Brigade, the suspect is believed to be a significant figure in the arms trafficking network within the region.
Recovered from Shuaib were 362 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, one round of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, ₦842,100 in cash, a black Jing Cheng motorcycle, a Redmi Android phone, an itel phone, two silver rings, and a First Bank ATM card.
The suspect is currently in custody and reportedly cooperating with investigators, offering intelligence to support ongoing and future operations.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade/Sector 3 OPWS, praised the troops for their successful effort and reiterated the Army’s commitment to working alongside other agencies to eliminate criminal elements in Taraba State.
He also urged citizens to assist security forces by sharing timely and credible information to help maintain peace and safety across the state.
