Troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/ Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke have apprehended a notorious suspected terrorist following “credible and actionable intelligence” in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State.
According to the Army, the suspect, identified as 35-year-old Saawuan Wuaiyolna, was tracked and arrested at Takum Junction, Wukari, after swift action on an intelligence report.
In a statement, Acting Assistant Director, 6 Brigade Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, revealed that Wuaiyolna, who hails from Ateryange community in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State, is allegedly a top member of the bandits’ gang led by the wanted criminal, Akiki Utivi, popularly known as “Full Fire.”
Investigations showed that the suspect had entered Wukari to observe troop movements with the aim of aiding coordinated attacks on civilians.
The Army described the arrest as a major blow to the gang, reinforcing Operation LAFIYA NAKOWA’s commitment to curbing terrorists, bandits, and other criminal networks in Taraba and surrounding areas.
Commander 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, lauded the troops for their bravery and assured residents of sustained security efforts.
He further called on the public to continue assisting security forces with timely and reliable information to support ongoing operations.
