Military authorities announced on Saturday that troops engaged in nationwide security operations throughout September 2025 rescued 180 kidnapped civilians, arrested 450 suspected terrorists and bandits, and neutralised many others during various clashes.
They added that 39 terrorists surrendered, while security forces seized 63 assorted weapons, 4,475 rounds of ammunition, and 294 explosive items, including grenades and materials for improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
Major General Markus Kangye, Director of Defence Media Operations, said troops also captured terrorist logistics and communication equipment, such as hand-held radios, vehicles, motorcycles, and other tools used in criminal activities.
North-East
The Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), maintained pressure on Boko Haram, ISWAP, and JAS fighters between 23 and 30 September by denying them freedom of movement across the region. Ground forces, supported by air components and local security groups, eliminated numerous terrorists, dismantled their networks, seized weapons, and enabled the safe return of displaced persons and uninterrupted farming.
Operations covered Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe States, where troops killed several militants, destroyed their camps, and arrested 21 collaborators, informants, and sympathisers. Seized weapons, ammunition, vehicles, and IED materials remain in custody for investigation.
North-West
Troops of Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) conducted intensive operations across Zamfara, Sokoto, Kano, Kebbi, and Kaduna States. They killed several terrorists, arrested 46 suspects, and rescued 13 kidnapped victims. Security forces also apprehended a notorious terrorist, Ali Saidu, in Katsina State.
North-Central
Operation Enduring Peace troops responded to distress calls and launched attacks in Plateau and Kaduna States, killing several extremists, arresting 12, and rescuing four kidnapped victims. Weapons, ammunition, vehicles, and motorcycles were also recovered.
Operation WHIRL STROKE forces carried out successful missions in Benue, Taraba, Nasarawa, Kogi, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), killing several criminals, arresting six suspects, and rescuing two abducted individuals.
South-South
Operation Delta Safe troops disrupted oil theft worth over ₦20.8 million, seizing 13,175 litres of stolen crude and 7,230 litres of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO). They also destroyed 21 illegal refining sites, 11 storage tanks, and other equipment. Troops arrested eight oil thieves, detained 36 suspects in various states, and rescued two kidnapped victims.
South-East
Operation UDO KA forces continued aggressive operations in Anambra and Imo States from 25 to 30 September. They killed one terrorist, arrested four suspects, and recovered weapons, vehicles, ammunition, and IEDs.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating insecurity and ensuring peace across the country.
