Troops thwart terrorists’ attack in Taraba, neutralize two,

Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have thwarted a planned terrorist attack, killing two terrorists in Taraba State.

In a statement, the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, revealed that troops, acting on credible intelligence, advanced to Tor Ikyeghgba village on October 1, 2025, following reports of bandits gathering in the area.

Upon arrival, the soldiers encountered the terrorists along the Powerline axis and engaged them with superior firepower, leading to the neutralisation of two.

Recovered items from the operation included one locally fabricated pistol, two Dane guns, three rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, one Baofeng radio, a motorcycle, and other materials.

“The breakthrough is in continuation of the ongoing operations across Taraba State, code-named OPERATION LAFIYA NAKOWA, aimed at flushing out terrorists and criminal elements within the state,” the statement partly read.

Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade, commended the troops for their swift response, resilience, and professionalism, while urging them to sustain the momentum.

He further assured residents that the Brigade remains committed to ensuring peace, safety, and security across the state.

The Commander also appealed to the public to support the ongoing operations by providing credible and timely information that could help in tackling criminal activities.
