President Donald Trump on Monday dismissed Iran’s retaliatory missile strike on a U.S. military base in Qatar as “weak” and urged all parties to move towards regional peace following American airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.
Trump downplayed the launch of several missiles at the Al Udeid base in Qatar, which Tehran described as a response to the U.S. bombing of three major Iranian nuclear sites.
The former president claimed Iran had issued advance notice of the missile attack, signalling an intention to avoid casualties.
“Iran has officially responded to our obliteration of their nuclear facilities with a very weak response, which we expected and effectively countered,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
“I thank Iran for the early warning, which ensured no loss of life or injury,” he added.
Trump expressed hope for a peaceful resolution to the conflict that erupted following Israeli strikes aimed at dismantling Iran’s nuclear programme.
“Perhaps Iran can now move towards peace and harmony in the region, and I will strongly encourage Israel to do the same,” he posted. “Iran has gotten it all out of their system, and hopefully there will be no further hate.”
