Governor Uba Sani has emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the 2027 general election after securing 459,393 affirmation votes during the party’s primary election held on Thursday.
Sani, who contested unopposed, received backing from delegates and party stakeholders across Kaduna State in what APC leaders described as a strong vote of confidence in his administration.
Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission monitored the exercise, which drew party leaders, elected officials, delegates and supporters from the 23 local government areas of the state.
Announcing the result, Chairman of the Kaduna State APC Governorship and House of Assembly Primary Committee, Hon. Hafiz Kawu, described the process as peaceful and transparent.
He said the outcome reflected increasing unity within the ruling party ahead of the 2027 elections.
The motion for the adoption of the affirmation votes was presented by Kaduna State APC Chairman Atiku Sanke and seconded by Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Yusuf Liman.
Delegates unanimously approved the motion amid celebrations by supporters at the venue.
In his acceptance speech, Governor Sani thanked APC members, stakeholders and residents of Kaduna State for the confidence placed in him.
He stated that the endorsement would strengthen his administration’s resolve to continue promoting inclusive governance, improved security and accelerated development across the state.
According to him, his government has made progress in fostering peace, unity and development through dialogue, inclusion and people-centred policies, especially in infrastructure, education, rural transformation and urban renewal.
The governor also pledged to build on the achievements already recorded and intensify efforts aimed at making Kaduna State more peaceful, prosperous and economically competitive.
