The management of United Capital has released details of staff lost to the fire that engulfed Afriland Towers, a six-storey building housing a number of high profile corporate organisations in Lagos, on September 16.
At least six employees of the firm lost their lives to the fire.
According to reports, the blaze, which started in the inverter room located in the basement, also claimed four lives from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
On Monday, United Capital, a pan-African financial services institution, confirmed the deaths of its staff and announced plans to hold a memorial service to honour the victims with dignity and solemnity.
“Our departed colleagues were an integral part of our company and family. Their painful loss leaves an immeasurable void,” the company said in an earlier statement.
“We extend our deepest and heartfelt condolences to their families, friends, and loved ones, and we continue to hold them in our thoughts and prayers, as well as providing all the support we can to them during this most difficult time.”
Below are the names of the deceased United Capital staff.
Jesutoni Shodipo, 21, was a graduate intern in United Capital’s compliance department.
Kehinde Adeoye worked in United Capital’s compliance department and died at the age of 36.
Ndidi Osaemedike-Okeke worked with United Capital’s trustees and died at the age of 41.
Olumide Oyefodunrin was a 27-year-old trust officer at United Capital.
Opeyemi Oloyede worked as a compliance intern at United Capital and died at the age of 26.
Rebecca Adenuga was a 26-year-old executive associate with United Capital’s wealth management department.
