The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has opened its portal for the recruitment of ad hoc staff for the Osun state off-cycle governorship election scheduled for August 15.
The Ad hoc positions include supervisory presiding officers (SPOs), presiding officers (POs), assistant presiding officers (APOs), RAC managers, and registration area technicians (RATECHs).
In a post on X on Monday, the commission said the portal opened for applications on June 27 and will close at 12am on July 18.
“The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) invites applications from suitable, qualified and interested candidates for engagement as ad-hoc staff for the conduct of the 2026 Osun state governorship election,” the notice reads.
“The INECPRES is for registration of eligible ad-hoc staff (supervisory presiding officers (SPOs)/ presiding officers (POS)/ assistant presiding officers (APO)/ registration area technicians (RATECHS) and RAC managers for the 2026 Osun state governorship election.”
On eligibility, INEC said it will consider staff of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), National Orientation Agency (NOA), National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), National Population Commission (NPC), and unengaged INEC staff for the SPO position.
The commission said serving corps members, former corps members and students in their penultimate year at tertiary institutions would be considered for PO and APO roles.
The notice said heads of schools and staff of the schools hosting the registration area centres (RACs) will serve as RAC managers, while suitable INEC staff will be recruited as registration area tech support staff.
The commission said applicants must not be members of any political party and must not have either demonstrated or expressed support for any candidate or party.
