VIDEO: Kidnapped traveller begs for help as bandits demand N100 million ransom

A Nigerian man identified as Adegoke has cried out from a kidnappers’ den after armed bandits demanded a N100 million ransom for his release following his abduction while travelling to Sokoto State.

Afrika Eyes gathered that Adegoke was kidnapped on March 6, 2026, while heading to Sokoto when heavily armed bandits intercepted him along the route.

In a disturbing video obtained by Afrika Eyes, several gunmen carrying rifles were seen surrounding the victim and forcing him to record a message appealing for assistance.

The bandits, who appeared relaxed while holding their weapons, stood behind Adegoke as he delivered a distress message to Nigerians, pleading for help to secure his freedom.

In the emotional clip, Adegoke introduced himself and explained how he was abducted while travelling.

“Good morning ladies and gentlemen, brothers and sisters. My name is Adegoke. I was on my way on Saturday the 6th of March 2026 to Sokoto while I was apprehended on the way.”

He disclosed that the kidnappers had placed a ransom of N100 million on him and appealed to the public to assist in raising the money to save his life.

“The ransom has been set at 100 million Naira. Please, brothers and sisters, I’m begging and pleading that you guys should please help me so that I can leave this place alive. The people have granted me, they promised that as long as the ransom is paid, they will allow me to go.”

Adegoke continued his emotional appeal, urging Nigerians to support him with any assistance they could provide so he could regain his freedom.

“Please, I am begging you, help me with whatever you can so that I can leave this place alive. Please, and if you want to reach out, you can reach out to my brother on 080-6213-22889. Please, and get further information from him.”

He concluded the message with another desperate plea.

“I beg you all, please, help me so that I can leave this place alive. Thank you.”

The video highlights the growing threat of kidnapping for ransom in Nigeria, particularly along highways and in northern parts of the country where armed bandits frequently target travellers and residents.

Kidnapping for ransom has become one of the most profitable criminal activities for armed groups operating across several states, with victims often compelled to record videos appealing to their families and the public for financial assistance.

As of the time of filing this report, it remains unclear whether security agencies have launched an operation to rescue Adegoke or track down the bandits responsible for the abduction.
