Why I rejected N30m from Kebbi gov – Pastor Enenche

Paul Enenche, Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, has revealed why he declined a ₦30 million donation from Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, during a recent crusade held in the state.

During his Sunday sermon at the church’s headquarters in Abuja, Enenche explained that he follows a personal principle of not accepting funds from government officials or politicians.

He said, “For some people, that may be a surprise because they don’t know who we are. But for those who know us, that’s no surprise at all.

“That’s how we’ve lived, and that’s what we’ve stood for.”

Enenche added that this principle is not about Idris personally, but about staying true to his values, which he has followed for over 20 years.

He recalled turning down money after a national trip to Jerusalem with former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2014, saying, “By the time we returned, the board chairman brought an offering and said this is their honourarium to me for going. I said no.”

He also mentioned that even when President Jonathan visited his church, there were no money exchanges.

“Government funds are not in this project, not one naira,” he said, referring to the church’s headquarters building.

He said he once rejected a car gift from a childhood friend who became a minister and turned down offers from ex-Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom.

Enenche said, “I don’t want to touch any dime of government money,” explaining that it helps him stay free to speak boldly to those in power.
