The Ondo State Police Command has launched a probe into the death of an unidentified woman whose corpse was discovered inside a hotel room in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area.
The woman was found lifeless on Wednesday in a hotel located along the Ore–Okitipupa Road.
Hotel staff reported that the man who had checked into the room with her was missing at the time her body was discovered.
A hotel employee, who asked not to be named because of the sensitivity of the case, told our correspondent that the pair had checked in together earlier in the day.
The woman was later found unresponsive on the bed.
“They came in together, but when one of our staff went to the room, the woman was already lying lifeless on the bed, and the man was gone.
The staff immediately alerted others, and the case was reported to the police,” the source explained.
The worker added that no visible injuries or signs of violence were noticed in the room.
Confirming the development on Thursday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, said detectives had commenced efforts to track down the fleeing suspect.
“Yes, the incident was reported, and an investigation has begun. We are working to identify and apprehend the man who fled,” Ayanlade said.
The woman’s remains have been deposited in a morgue within the community while police continue their inquiries.
