Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has flagged off the construction of the 95-kilometre Yandoton Daji–Cediya–Doka–Yan Waren Daji–Hayin Alhaji Bedi–Unguwar Joji–Yan Kuzo–Tsafe Road in Tsafe Local Government Area.
The governor performed the official flag-off of the project in Tsafe town on Sunday, October 4, 2026, according to a statement by his spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris.
Lawal said the road project would improve connectivity, boost economic activities and make it easier for farmers to transport their produce to markets.
“Zamfara State Governor His Excellency, Dr Dauda Lawal has flagged off the Yandonton Daji–Cediya–Doka–Yan Waren Daji–Hayin Alhaji Bedi–Unguwar Joji–Yan Kuzo–Tsafe Road, comprising a 94-kilometre road in Tsafe LGA.
“At the official flag-off by His Excellency Dr Dauda Lawal in Tsafe Town on Sunday, the 4th of October, 2026, the Governor disclosed that the road will ease connectivity and affect the local economy for farmers.
“The road is to be constructed by Sky Construction Company and Setraco Construction Company Limited.”
The Commissioner for Works, Lawal Bungundu, said the project reflected the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and would facilitate the movement of farm produce by connecting several farmlands.
“The construction of this road in Tsafe LGA will ensure the commuting of farm produce, as it connects many farmlands, and it will affect the economic activities of the state.
“The road will ensure the smooth transportation of farm produce and also develop agricultural output. This will work in line with our administration’s investment in critical infrastructure to enhance the productivity of our people”, the statement quoted Bungundu as saying.
Speaking at the event, Lawal said his administration was focused on overhauling the state’s infrastructure, stressing that the road would connect farmlands to major routes and enable farmers to move their produce more efficiently.
He added that the project would also contribute to the security of residents by improving the mobility and operational capacity of security agencies.
“The reconstruction of this road will not only facilitate the movement of goods and services, but also enhance the mobility and operational capacity of our security agencies. With a better road network, we can improve our surveillance and intelligence gathering, as well as respond more effectively to any threats or attacks.
“The reconstruction of the 95km Yandoton Daji–Cediya–Doka–Yan Waren Daji–Hayin Alhaji Bedi–Unguwar Joji–Yan Kuzo–Tsafe Road with five bridges is a crucial step towards addressing the pressing security challenges that have affected the communities connected by these roads. These communities, which lie within highly agricultural areas, play a pivotal role in our state’s economy. However, insecurity has created significant obstacles, hindering their ability to thrive and contribute fully to our collective prosperity.
“This road forms part of a broader infrastructure renewal programme across Zamfara State. From the Gusau–Magami–Dansadau Road to the Zurmi–Rukudawa Road, the Mallamawa–Bukkuyum Road with a spur to Masamar Mudi, and other strategic corridors, our administration is steadily opening up communities, reconnecting economic centres and addressing infrastructure deficits accumulated over many years.
“Our administration is big on ensuring that farmers get their produce to the end users. When the road connecting the farm is good, it reduces stress and also ensures more mechanised farming, because the heavy-duty equipment we have procured can easily reach the farm. Also, when the harvest is done, the farm produce can move smoothly to the markets and all. This will ease the lives of our people, who are predominantly farmers, and it will also connect them to the ease of doing business”, the statement quoted Lawal as saying.
The governor further announced plans to construct additional inner roads across other local government areas, promising that his administration would continue working to deliver development to residents.
He said the project, which includes five bridges, is expected to be completed within 12 months.
