Fresh resignation hits Ondo Gov’s cabinet as another aide steps down

Another member of Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s team has resigned, marking the third exit from the governor’s cabinet in recent days.

Yinka Richards, who held the position of Special Assistant to the Governor on Special Duties, submitted his resignation in a letter dated February 16, 2026, with the resignation set to take effect on February 18.

In the letter addressed to the governor, Richards expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve, describing his tenure as a privilege that enabled him to contribute to governance and development initiatives in the state.

He noted that his decision followed careful consideration and that he plans to focus on a national assignment while advancing the next phase of his political and professional career.

The resignation follows closely after two senior media aides left the administration within 48 hours: Pastor Taiwo Ilesanmi Gbamila resigned as Senior Special Assistant on Multimedia, and Olugbenga Abire stepped down from his role as Special Assistant on Media.

At the time of reporting, the state government had not issued an official response to the recent wave of resignations.
