Ajibade shines as Super Falcons defeat Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses

Rashidat Ajibade’s brace secured a commanding 2-0 victory for the Super Falcons of Nigeria against the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon in an international friendly on Tuesday.

The match, held at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, Ogun State, saw Nigeria take the lead in the 28th minute when Ajibade won and confidently converted a penalty.

The Super Falcons continued to press, with Ajibade—fresh off her departure from Atlético Madrid—relentlessly challenging the Cameroonian defense. Despite their efforts, Cameroon held firm until the 43rd minute, when Omorinsola Babajide delivered a perfectly timed pass to Ajibade, who doubled Nigeria’s lead with a clinical finish.

In the second half, Cameroon grew into the game and threatened to pull one back in stoppage time. However, Nigeria’s goalkeeper, the reigning CAF Female Goalkeeper of the Year, made a remarkable save to preserve the clean sheet.

The victory marked Nigeria’s 15th win over Cameroon in 21 encounters.

Originally scheduled for two matches, the series was reduced to one due to Cameroon’s delayed arrival in Nigeria.

The Super Falcons are using the friendly as preparation for the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), set to commence in Morocco next month.
