Carlos Alcaraz defeated Jannik Sinner in four sets on Sunday to clinch the US Open title, as President Donald Trump faced loud boos — with a few cheers — from the New York crowd.
The 22-year-old Spaniard prevailed 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 to secure his second US Open crown and sixth Grand Slam title, overturning his defeat to Sinner in the Wimbledon final in July.
With the victory, Alcaraz will reclaim the world number one ranking from Sinner, marking his return to the top for the first time since September 2023 and halting the Italian’s 27-match winning streak at hard-court majors.
