Bukayo Saka has signed a new five-year contract with Arsenal, according to Sky Sports News.
His previous deal was set to run until June 2027, but the extension now commits him to the club through 2031.
Reports indicate that clubs across the Premier League and Europe were monitoring his situation, although the 24-year-old always preferred to remain at the Emirates Stadium.
The England international has become a central figure for his boyhood club under Mikel Arteta, logging more minutes than any Arsenal player since the manager’s arrival in 2019.
Overall, he has made 296 appearances for the Gunners and scored 77 goals, including seven in 33 matches in all competitions this season.
He is currently on a 15-game goalless run, having last scored on December 3 in a 2-0 home league victory over Brentford.
Saka has played a decisive role in Arsenal’s recent title pushes, especially in 2023/24 when he produced 20 goals and 16 assists across competitions as the team finished two points behind Manchester City in the Premier League.
This season, the England international is aiming for a first Premier League title, with Arsenal four points clear, while the club is also chasing a quadruple after reaching the Carabao Cup final, the FA Cup fifth round and the last 16 of the Champions League.
Arsenal have secured several players on new deals in recent months, including William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhães, Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly.
Like Nwaneri and Lewis-Skelly, Saka emerged from Arsenal’s Hale End academy, having joined the club at the age of seven.
Saka firmly among Premier League’s best
Analysis by Sky Sports’ Nick Wright:
Despite Arsenal spending close to £300m on new signings in the summer window, securing Saka’s future could prove their most significant move this season.
The academy graduate has become a talismanic figure, captaining the team in the absence of Martin Ødegaard and remaining central to their attack, particularly down the right flank.
No player has been more influential under Arteta. Along with making more Premier League appearances than his teammates during the Spaniard’s tenure, he leads the squad in goals, assists, shots, and chances created, highlighting his all-round impact.
There is little doubt about his place among the league’s elite. Since the start of the 2021/22 season, only Mohamed Salah, Erling Haaland and Ollie Watkins have recorded more goal involvements.
His groin injury contributed to Arsenal’s dip in form last season, but he has reached the midpoint of the current campaign back in top condition.
Although the squad has strengthened following summer recruitment, Saka remains indispensable, with his long-term future now secured.
