Stanley Nwabali has ended his four-year stay at South African side Chippa United.
The club confirmed the Super Eagles goalkeeper’s departure in a statement released on Thursday.
Chippa United disclosed that Nwabali requested to leave the club, despite the 29-year-old having signed a three-year contract extension in 2024.
The club stated that it “has agreed to grant his [Nwabali] release” and wished him well as he moves on to the next phase of his career.

“We would like to sincerely thank Stanley Nwabali for the years of service, commitment, and professionalism he has shown during his time at Chippa United Football Club. His contribution to the club will always be appreciated,” the statement read.
Chippa United did not indicate whether the goalkeeper has joined another club or will become a free agent, while Nwabali has yet to comment on his next destination.

However, reports suggest that the shot-stopper is attracting interest from clubs in the South African Premier Soccer League (PSL), as well as teams in Europe and Saudi Arabia.
Nwabali joined Chippa United from Katsina United in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) in 2022, making over 70 appearances for the club and being named captain in 2024.
During his time at the club, he also established himself as the Super Eagles’ first-choice goalkeeper following his standout performances at the Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.
