The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has officially confirmed that “Morocco will host the 2026 FIFA World Cup playoffs.”
This mini-tournament will decide which African nation secures a place in the intercontinental play-offs for the 2026 World Cup.
The semi-final fixtures are set for November 13, 2025, with the final to follow on November 16, 2025—all to be staged in Morocco.
Four of the highest-ranked second-placed teams from the nine CAF qualifying groups after matchday 10 will earn spots in the playoffs.
CAF further disclosed that the FIFA rankings for October 2025, scheduled for release on October 23, will be used to determine the seeding for the draw.
According to the format, the top-ranked side will take on the fourth-best team, while the second and third-ranked teams will meet in the other semi-final clash.
The eventual winner of the Morocco playoffs will book a place in the intercontinental play-offs set for March 2026, where they will compete against teams from Asia, South America, Oceania, or CONCACAF for a coveted ticket to the mundial.
