African football’s governing body, the Confederation of African Football, has announced the dates and host nations for several competitions lined up for the 2026/27 season.
The announcement covers major senior, youth, club and emerging competitions across the continent, giving national associations and other stakeholders a clearer timeline for preparations.
CAF said it had made “significant progress in strengthening its Competitions calendar”.
The body added that “The increasingly stable calendar reflects CAF’s continued commitment to strengthening its existing Competitions while developing important new properties that will create additional opportunities at senior and youth level,”
The 2027 Africa Cup of Nations will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, with the tournament scheduled for June 19 to July 17, 2027. The qualifying campaign is expected to commence in September 2026.
Sundowns, USM Alger to meet in Super Cup
South Africa will host the 2026 CAF Super Cup in Tshwane on November 8.
Champions League holders Mamelodi Sundowns will face Confederation Cup winners USM Alger for the continental title.
CAF said the match will begin at 3pm South African time, equivalent to 1pm GMT.
Youth tournaments spread across Africa
The calendar also assigns hosting responsibilities for CAF’s youth competitions.
Ghana will stage the Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations in February and March 2027, while Morocco will host the Under-17 tournament in April and May.
Egypt will be the venue for the Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations, which will double as the qualifying competition for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
CAF is also considering the introduction of an Under-17 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. The governing body said the proposed tournament could begin next year if the necessary sporting and organisational arrangements are in place.
Meanwhile, Morocco will host the Futsal Africa Cup of Nations from October 12 to 21, 2026, while Senegal has been selected for the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations in November.
Champions League, Confederation Cup dates fixed
The preliminary draws for the 2026/27 CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup have already been conducted.
The first-leg matches of the opening preliminary round will be played from September 4 to 6, followed by the second legs from September 11 to 13.
CAF also disclosed that discussions surrounding the proposed African Nations League are progressing, with its Executive Committee examining the structure of the competition.
The continental body said the clearer calendar would make it easier for football associations to plan, while also providing players, commercial partners, broadcasters and fans with better visibility of upcoming competitions.
