Chelle unveils 23 home-based stars for CHAN 2025

Super Eagles B head coach, Eric Chelle, has unveiled a 23-man squad for the 8th African Nations Championship (CHAN), which will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda from August 2 to 30, 2025.

The squad features captain Junior Harrison Nduka, defender Sikiru Alimi, and striker Godwin Obaje. Also included are goalkeeper Ozoemena Ani, defenders Sodiq Ismaila and Stephen Mayo, midfielders Hadi Haruna and Alex Oyowah, and forwards Anas Yusuf and Ijoma Anthony.

The team is expected to depart for Zanzibar on Thursday evening via Ethiopian Airlines. They have been in camp for several weeks at the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has scheduled a second-phase training camp in Zanzibar from July 25 to 31. The team, who finished as runners-up in the 2018 CHAN edition, will then move into their official tournament base on the island.

To sharpen match readiness, the NFF has arranged two friendlies against the Zanzibar national team, to be played on Monday, July 28, and Thursday, July 31.

Nigeria, who claimed bronze in the 2014 tournament, are placed in Group D alongside titleholders Senegal, as well as Sudan and Congo. Their first two group matches—against Senegal and Sudan—will be held at Amman Stadium in Zanzibar, while the final group game versus Congo will take place at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
