Rogers completes record breaking Chelsea transfer

Chelsea have completed the signing of England international Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa, with the 23-year-old forward putting pen to paper on a contract that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2033.

The Premier League club confirmed the transfer on Tuesday, announcing that Rogers will join head coach Xabi Alonso’s squad ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Reacting to the move, Rogers said he was thrilled to join the West London club.

“I’m so excited. For me, Chelsea are the biggest club in London and a club I’ve always admired since I was a kid,” he said.

“I’m really excited about the project with the new manager, the players we’ve got and where the club is heading. That’s why I’m here and I can’t wait to get started.”

Rogers joins Chelsea after an impressive spell at Aston Villa, where he established himself as one of the Premier League’s emerging attacking talents.

During his time at Villa, he contributed to 40 league goals across 85 Premier League appearances, playing a key role in the club’s top-four finish before helping them lift the UEFA Europa League last season.

On the international stage, Rogers has become a regular member of the England squad since making his senior debut in November 2024.

He has earned 22 caps for the Three Lions and featured for England at this summer’s FIFA World Cup.

Chelsea will hope Rogers strengthens their attacking options as they begin a new era under Alonso ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
