Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer has fractured a toe in a household accident, ruling him out of the team’s upcoming three matches against Burnley, Barcelona, and Arsenal.
The England international had been close to returning after recovering from the groin issue he picked up in September.
But on Friday, head coach Enzo Maresca confirmed that Palmer has encountered an unexpected delay following the unusual incident.
Maresca explained: “Unfortunately, he had an accident at home where he hit his toe but it is nothing important – but he won’t be back in the next week.”
When questioned about Palmer’s potential recovery time, Maresca continued: “We don’t know. [His toe] It’s fractured.
“The only thing we know: he is not available for this week and next week.”
