Crystal Palace reject Tottenham’s £70m bid for Guehi

Crystal Palace have rejected a £70 million bid from Tottenham Hotspur for defender Marc Guehi.

The England international, who was linked with Newcastle United during the summer transfer window, has 18 months remaining on his contract with Palace.

This season, Guehi has made 23 Premier League appearances, scoring three goals, as Palace currently sit 12th in the table—three points ahead of Tottenham in 14th place.

Tottenham are not expected to submit an improved bid for the 24-year-old during this transfer window.

In the summer, Newcastle made four bids for Guehi, with their final offer reportedly reaching £65 million, all of which Palace rejected.

Chelsea are also reportedly monitoring Guehi as a defensive target, despite selling him to Palace for £18 million in 2021.

Palace are facing a shortage of fit centre-backs following Trevoh Chalobah’s recall from loan by Chelsea and Chadi Riad’s long-term knee injury.

While the club explored signing Portugal’s Tiago Djalo, they required Juventus to terminate his loan at Porto to facilitate the move, which did not materialize.

Meanwhile, Tottenham remain on the hunt for defensive reinforcements, despite securing the loan signing of Lens defender Kevin Danso on Sunday, ahead of Wolves.

The North London side has been hit by injuries, with Romanian centre-back Radu Dragusin joining Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie on the sidelines following a knee injury sustained during their Europa League win over Elfsborg on Thursday.

Spurs have reportedly considered alternative defensive options, including Chelsea’s Axel Disasi and AC Milan’s Fikayo Tomori. Tottenham have been approached for comment.
