Match Report
Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw at Elland Road, as Leeds United extended their unbeaten streak to seven games.
Ruben Amorim’s side, who had drawn 1-1 with Wolves on Tuesday, fell behind when Brenden Aaronson outpaced Ayden Heaven to beat Senne Lammens in the second half.
The visitors responded swiftly, however, with Matheus Cunha slotting home just 174 seconds later, thanks to a pass from substitute Joshua Zirkzee.
The equaliser sparked an intense finish, with chances at both ends. Cunha came closest for Manchester United, hitting the outside of the post from the edge of the box, while Benjamin Sesko missed a good opportunity after Zirkzee’s cut-back.
Joel Piroe nearly clinched a late winner for Leeds, narrowly shooting over with his first touch after coming off the bench.
Earlier in the game, Leeds had struck the post through Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s header, and Noah Okafor’s overhead attempt was superbly saved by Lemmens.
Leeds also had other clear chances, including a sharp reflex stop by goalkeeper Lucas Perri from Leny Yoro’s close-range effort.
Manchester United showed slight improvement compared to their Wolves draw, after which they were jeered at Old Trafford, but the result leaves them with just one win from their last five Premier League outings.
For Leeds, the draw marks another step toward safety, extending their unbeaten run to seven games and keeping them eight points clear of the relegation zone.
