Liverpool have completed the signing of France international Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain in a deal that could reach £123m, as the Premier League champions continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
The transfer, confirmed by BBC Sport, is worth an initial £106m, with a further £17m available in potential add-ons for the 23-year-old forward.
Barcola has agreed a five-year contract with Liverpool and becomes the club’s fifth signing of the summer, joining Victor Munoz, Jeremy Jacquet, Ronald Araujo and Ifeanyi Ndukwe.
The France international expressed his excitement after completing the move to Anfield.
“It took a long time but I’m really happy today to be able to play for Liverpool and all I want is to be on the pitch and be able to play,” Barcola said.
The forward also outlined his immediate ambition, with Premier League success high on his list of priorities.
“I hope to achieve very big things. First of all, winning the Premier League – it’s one of my biggest dreams in my life.”
Barcola said his previous appearances at Anfield also played a role in his decision to move to Liverpool, having experienced the atmosphere at the stadium as an opposition player.
“I had the chance to play twice in this stadium and I saw the atmosphere and how the fans were behind the Liverpool players,” he told Liverpool’s official website.
“When I knew about Liverpool’s interest in me, I didn’t ask questions and I knew it was a very big club for me.”
The former PSG attacker will wear the No. 29 shirt at Liverpool.
His arrival comes as Liverpool continue to reshape their attacking options, with Manchester City reportedly in talks with the Reds over Cody Gakpo ahead of the transfer deadline.
Liverpool are also said to be monitoring Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh and Crystal Palace forward Ismaila Sarr as they consider further attacking reinforcements.
