Estevao holds deep admiration for Barcelona, says agent

The representative of Estevao, Andre Cury, has disclosed that the talented winger still holds a strong admiration for Barcelona, even though he ultimately joined Chelsea.

Barcelona had been keen on signing the young Brazilian before his move to London, and the player had previously expressed that the Spanish club was his preferred destination. However, financial constraints prevented Barcelona from completing the deal.

Cury explained that he had engaged in numerous discussions with the Catalan club over several years, making repeated attempts to present Estevao as a promising prospect. He noted that Barcelona’s financial instability made the operation impossible, which he described as an unfortunate reality of the sport.

He added that the club’s technical department consistently supported the idea of bringing Estevao to Barcelona, but the sporting leadership was restricted by the club’s economic limitations. Cury also stated that while Estevao is committed to his five-year deal at Chelsea and is settling in well, the player still holds warm feelings toward the Spanish giants.

Despite this affinity, Estevao delivered a standout performance against Barcelona in Tuesday’s Champions League match at Stamford Bridge. The Brazilian teenager scored a brilliant individual goal that doubled Chelsea’s lead in a 3–0 victory.

Chelsea’s opener came from a Jules Kounde own goal, and substitute Liam Delap later sealed the win with a third strike.
