League One side Mansfield Town are set to welcome Premier League table-toppers Arsenal, while Manchester City must negotiate a potentially difficult away fixture at Newcastle United in the FA Cup fifth round.
Mansfield earned their spot after eliminating top-flight Burnley on Saturday, reaching the fifth round for the first time in half a century. Their prize is a high-profile encounter with Arsenal at the One Call Stadium.
Manchester City, seven-time winners of the famous old trophy most recently three years ago will have to replicate their Carabao Cup semi-final victory over Newcastle if Pep Guardiola’s men are to remain in contention for what would be an eighth title. They will also be eager to atone for their surprise defeat to Crystal Palace in last season’s final at Wembley.
Elsewhere, non-league Macclesfield Town — who shocked Palace in the third round — have another opportunity to spring a major upset when they face in-form Premier League outfit Brentford on Monday night. Should they prevail, a trip to the London Stadium to meet struggling West Ham United awaits.
Wrexham, through to the fifth round for the first time in 29 years after overcoming Ipswich Town on Saturday, have landed a dream tie against eight-time winners Chelsea at the Racecourse Ground. Meanwhile, 2022 champions Liverpool appearing in the fifth round for only the fourth time in the past 11 campaigns travel to relegation-threatened Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Rounding out the fifth-round fixtures, Fulham will host Southampton, Port Vale or Bristol City — who contest their rescheduled fourth-round clash on March 3 — take on Sunderland, and Leeds United face Norwich City at Elland Road, where Daniel Farke meets his former club.
