Father of NBA star Jaylen Brown arrested over Las Vegas stabbing

The father of Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown has been charged with attempted murder following an alleged stabbing during a parking lot dispute in Las Vegas, according to authorities and U.S. media reports released Thursday.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police stated that 57-year-old Quenton Marselles Brown was taken into custody and booked at the Clark County Detention Center after the incident on Wednesday.

He appeared in court for the first time on Thursday, where his bail was set at $300,000.

A police report obtained by Las Vegas-based News 3 indicates that witnesses said the confrontation began when Brown “dinged” the door of an adjacent car while getting out of his SUV.

The report claims that Brown stabbed the victim multiple times after the victim had turned his back, resulting in injuries to the victim’s back, upper right chest, and a defensive wound on the hand.

The victim was taken to the hospital. Brown, who resides in Las Vegas, was arrested after fleeing the scene.

Speaking to News 3, Brown’s attorney Arnold Weinstock said his client “was trying to defend himself” and described the $300,000 bond as “excessive.”

Jaylen Brown, a four-time NBA All-Star, was named the NBA Finals Most Valuable Player in 2024, when the Celtics claimed their record 18th championship.
