FG fulfils $100,000 reward promise to Super Falcons for 2024 WAFCON victory

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has announced that all Super Falcons players, coaches and officials who were part of the team’s 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) triumph have received their promised cash rewards.

In a statement on Monday, the NSC disclosed that the naira equivalent of $100,000 had been paid directly into each player’s bank account, while team officials received $50,000 each.

President Bola Tinubu had pledged the rewards following the Falcons’ historic 10th WAFCON title. Nigeria defeated hosts Morocco 3-2 in the final after recovering from a two-goal deficit. The tournament, initially scheduled for 2024, was eventually held in 2025.

The players were also promised individual three-bedroom apartments at the Renewed Hope Estate in Abuja and were conferred with the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) national honours.

The Federal Government had earlier fulfilled its housing commitment to the team ahead of the 2026 WAFCON, which began in July.

Similarly, in September 2026, D’Tigress received the naira equivalent of $100,000 per player and $50,000 per official following their 2024 Afrobasket victory. The team had also received the houses promised to them earlier in the year.
