FG fulfils AFCON promise, releases Super Eagles’ housing certificates

The Federal Government of Nigeria has now honoured its commitment to provide housing and land to the Super Eagles after their impressive run at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire.

Nigeria finished runners-up at the 2023 AFCON, staged in 2024, after a 2-1 defeat to the host nation in the final.

After the team returned to the country, President Bola Tinubu, during a reception at the Presidential Villa, conferred the Member of the Order of Niger (MON) on every player in the squad.

In addition, the president approved the allocation of a plot of land in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and a flat to each player in recognition of their achievement.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed that the players have now received certificates for the allocated land and housing.

According to the federation, the documents were presented to the players at their camp in Fez, Morocco, on Monday.

The Super Eagles will kick off their 2025 AFCON campaign on Tuesday with a match against Tanzania. They are scheduled to face Tunisia on December 27 before rounding off the group stage against Uganda three days later.
