Flamingos qualify for 2026 U-17 Women’s World Cup

Nigeria’s Flamingos have qualified for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco after defeating Benin Republic 5-3 in the second leg of the final qualifying round.

The Nigerian side secured victory on Saturday at the Stade de Kégué in Lomé, Togo, completing an 8-5 aggregate triumph over the Young Amazons.

The Flamingos had taken a slim advantage into the return leg after defeating Benin 3-2 in the first leg played in Ikenne, Ogun State.

Saturday’s victory sealed one of Africa’s qualification slots for the tournament, which will be held in Morocco later this year.

The qualification extends Nigeria’s strong record in the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, with the Flamingos once again earning a place on the global stage after overcoming their West African rivals over two legs.
