Nigeria’s Flying Eagles will be without key defender Adamu Maigari for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
Maigari suffered a training injury and will not recover in time for the tournament.
The right-back was a vital player for the team at the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in Egypt, where they finished in third place.
He played in all six of the Flying Eagles’ games and earned one Man of the Match award during the tournament.
The Flying Eagles are set to travel to Chile on Sunday for their final preparations.
Head coach Aliyu Zubairu is expected to announce the final squad for the tournament on September 19. Nigeria has been drawn into Group F, alongside Norway, Colombia, and Saudi Arabia.
