Fredrick joins Super Eagles camp ahead of World Cup Qualifiers

Promising young defender Benjamin Fredrick has joined the Super Eagles squad in Polokwane, South Africa, ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup Group C qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin Republic.

His arrival was confirmed by the team’s media officer, Promise Efoghe, bringing the total number of players in camp to 18.

The 17 players already in camp include captain William Troost-Ekong, Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Chrisantus Uche, Wilfred Ndidi, Bruno Onyemaechi, Terem Moffi, Moses Simon, Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukwueze, Frank Onyeka, Tolu Arokodare, Semi Ajayi, Stanley Nwabali, Adebayo Adeleye, and Amas Obasogie.

The Super Eagles held their first training session on Tuesday at 6 p.m. as preparations intensify for the crucial doubleheader.

Nigeria will face Lesotho on Friday, October 10, before returning home to host Benin Republic on Tuesday, October 14, in Uyo.

With two matches left in the qualifying campaign, the Super Eagles currently sit third in Group C with 11 points, trailing Benin Republic and South Africa by three points.
