The spotlight was firmly on Ousmane Dembélé, who finally secured the Men’s Ballon d’Or after a sensational season with Paris Saint-Germain.
The French winger was instrumental in PSG’s first-ever UEFA Champions League triumph, producing a dazzling display in their 5-0 final victory over Inter Milan in Munich. His creativity, pace, and decisive contributions earned him the ultimate accolade, edging out Barcelona’s teenage prodigy Lamine Yamal. For Dembélé, the award marked the pinnacle of his career, confirming his place among football’s elite.
On the women’s side, Aitana Bonmatí once again made history, lifting the Women’s Ballon d’Or for a record third consecutive year. The Barcelona and Spain midfielder joined Lionel Messi and Michel Platini as the only players to achieve such dominance. Her vision, consistency, and leadership continue to set the standard in women’s football.
The ceremony also highlighted the next generation of stars. Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal collected the Men’s Kopa Trophy, while his teammate Vicky López claimed the Women’s Kopa Trophy, showcasing Spain’s remarkable young talent.
In goalkeeping, Gianluigi Donnarumma was honoured with the Men’s Yashin Trophy, while Hannah Hampton won the Women’s Yashin Trophy. Luis Enrique and Sarina Wiegman were recognised with the Johan Cruyff Awards for their tactical brilliance in management.
Top scorers Viktor Gyökeres and Ewa Pajor received the Gerd Müller Trophies, while Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal were crowned Clubs of the Year in men’s and women’s football respectively.
The Socrates Award went to the Xana Foundation for its outstanding contributions to social impact.
