Haaland sends positive message ahead of Liverpool clash

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has called for unity and positivity ahead of the club’s Premier League meeting with Liverpool at Anfield.

Speaking in an official club interview after returning to training on October 8, Haaland said City supporters travelling to Anfield should enjoy the occasion while the team remains focused on securing victory.

“I think the Manchester City fans travelling to Anfield will have a great time, and we have to stick together, support each other, and stay positive. Whatever happens in life, we have to keep smiling,” he said.

The Norwegian forward stressed the importance of remaining united, enjoying the game and maintaining a positive mindset regardless of the outcome.

“We need to stay positive, look forward, try to win the game, enjoy the process of playing, and strive for victory. We must be united and show love to each other. So stick together, enjoy the journey, and keep smiling.”

Haaland also reflected on his personal connection to England, revealing that his family spent several years in the country before he eventually became a Manchester City player.

“I care a lot about this place—or rather, England as a whole. My mother and father lived here for ten years—in Nottingham and Leeds—but my father trained every day at Carrington.”

“I spent my first four years here. My younger brother is nine and my younger sister is six, so this is a special place for us. I must say, I care deeply about Manchester City and the fans because I am a fan myself—I can empathize with them.”

Haaland added that encounters with Liverpool have always carried special significance for him, having experienced victories, draws and defeats against the Reds.

“Games against Liverpool are always special. I’ve won, drawn, and lost there. Every Premier League game is different, and every match against Liverpool is special.”
