Inter Milan agree personal terms with Lookman

Super Eagles forward, Ademola Lookman, is reportedly closing in on a move to Inter Milan, according to fresh updates from Italy.

Sky Sport revealed on Monday that the Atalanta star has reached a personal agreement with the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League finalists, and that the Serie A runners-up have now begun talks with the reigning 2023/24 Europa League champions.

Inter Milan, which defeated FC Barcelona over two legs to qualify for last season’s UEFA Champions League final, has been rebuilding their squad following a recent decline in their performance.

The team lost 0-4 to PSG in the UEFA Champions League final and lost 0-2 to Brazil’s Fluminense in the round of 16 at the FIFA Club World Cup. Under new coach, Christian Chivu, Inter Milan look to rebound in the 2025/26 season after losing their Serie A crown to Napoli.

Although Atalanta are holding out for a €50 million transfer fee, the Cristian Chivu-led side remains optimistic that Lookman can be signed for closer to €40 million.

That €40 million valuation reportedly falls within Inter’s current budget and wouldn’t require the sale of existing players. Talks between the Nerazzurri and Lookman’s representatives are said to be progressing quickly.

However, securing Atalanta’s final approval may prove challenging. While Lookman’s willingness to make the move puts Inter in a favorable negotiating position, it may not be enough to sway Atalanta. The club’s cooperation is still crucial.

Inter also have Lois Openda, Nicolas Gonzalez, Jadon Sancho, and Christopher Nkunku on their radar. But Lookman is the dream signing.
