Former Nigerian international Dimeji Lawal has urged Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle to select only the best and most committed players for this month’s 2026 World Cup qualifying playoff against Gabon in Morocco.
The decisive encounter, slated for Thursday, November 13, will mark the 10th meeting between both nations. While Chelle’s side will aim to extend their dominance, Thierry Mouyouma’s Gabon are determined to secure a historic victory and advance to the playoff final.
Speaking with Completesports.com, Lawal emphasized the importance of fielding players with the right mentality and fighting spirit.
“The Super Eagles head coach must make the right decision at this stage by inviting players who are prepared to give their utmost effort to help Nigeria qualify for the 2026 World Cup,” he said.
“There is no room for errors. He must invite players that understand the task at hand because they must not jeopardize the second chance of qualifying for the World Cup.
“Gabon are a good team, but the Super Eagles remain the best.”
