It would be ‘foolish’ to leave PSG for Real Madrid – Vitinha

Portugal midfielder Vitinha has dismissed rumours linking him with a move to Real Madrid, saying it would be “foolish” to leave Paris Saint-Germain at this stage of his career.

The 26-year-old has been a key figure for PSG under coach Luis Enrique, helping the French side secure a treble last season. His impressive performances also saw him finish third in the voting for the Ballon d’Or last year.

Despite strong interest from Madrid, Vitinha insists he is happy in Paris and has no intention of leaving the club.

Speaking to Canal 11, he said: “It would be foolish to leave! I don’t think it would be the best thing for me at the moment. I feel very good here at PSG. I love being here at PSG, and so does my family.

“We have a fantastic group and an incredible coach. I feel that people appreciate me a lot and I feel that I have earned that affection.”

The midfielder has also been linked with lucrative offers from clubs in Saudi Arabia, but he made it clear that financial incentives are not enough to convince him to move.

He said: “Let’s not be naive. I’m more committed to having a stable career.

“I already earn very well here in Europe, at a big club. Doubling or tripling that salary wouldn’t make me any happier.”

Vitinha has been highly influential for PSG in Ligue 1 this season. He leads the team with 2,530 touches and has completed more passes (2,177) than any of his teammates.

In the current league campaign, the Portuguese international has scored once and provided seven assists.
