Chelsea defender Axel Disasi has resumed first-team training, according to confirmation from club coach Liam Rosenior.
Disasi, who signed for Chelsea from Monaco on a six-year deal, had fallen out of favour during the tenure of former coach Enzo Maresca.
Reports Online had earlier revealed that Disasi and Raheem Sterling were made to train separately after failing to secure transfers away from Stamford Bridge before the close of the transfer window.
In a post shared on Tuesday by football journalist Fabrizio Romano, Rosenior was quoted as saying: “I had a really good meeting with him. I said to the players that it’s a clean slate for everybody, and it was right for me to chat with him. He’s behind in terms of his fitness, and we’ll work with him.”
The 26-year-old French centre-back had been away from full training for some time, but Rosenior explained that the coaching crew would work closely with him to rebuild his fitness levels and reintegrate him into the squad.
Chelsea are expected to closely track Disasi’s progress ahead of upcoming Premier League matches, with the aim of having him available for selection once he is fully fit.
Rosenior’s update represents a positive development for Disasi, who is now focused on regaining full fitness and reclaiming his place in Chelsea’s starting XI.
