Former Togolese international Emmanuel Adebayor has reaffirmed that former Super Eagles legend Nwankwo Kanu remains his football idol and a true icon of the game.
Adebayor, who represented Arsenal from 2006 to 2009, described wearing the number 25 jersey and using the same locker once occupied by Kanu as a defining moment in his career.
The Togolese star, whose illustrious career included stints at Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Tottenham, also scored 32 goals in 87 appearances for Togo before retiring.
In an interview with Brila FM, Adebayor emphasized that comparisons between him and Kanu are unwarranted.
“I beg you people, Kanu [Nwankwo] is my idol and my god of football. So please, no comparison needed here. Thank you for understanding.”
