According to official UEFA information, Rafael Leão will wear the No. 7 jersey for Portugal’s Nations League meeting with Denmark, with Cristiano Ronaldo absent from the squad.
Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo reported that UEFA Nations League regulations require every player named in a match-day squad to be assigned a shirt number between 1 and 23. The UEFA match-day player list, released on the morning of the fixture, confirms that Leão will wear the iconic No. 7.
The Portuguese winger wore No. 17 in the team’s previous two matches but will now take over Ronaldo’s famous shirt for the encounter with Denmark.
Portugal have selected all 23 available squad members for the fixture, meaning every number from 1 to 23 has been allocated. Leão moves into the No. 7 shirt, while newly called-up Fábio Silva takes over the No. 17 jersey.
