Liverpool let points slip at Anfield as Burnley snatch draw

Liverpool surrendered more ground at Anfield as Marcus Edwards’ second-half leveller earned Burnley a 1-1 draw.

Dominik Szoboszlai failed to convert a penalty before the break, but Florian Wirtz appeared to have set the Reds up for a routine afternoon when he gave them the lead.

Burnley, though, stayed competitive and made their opportunity count when Edwards produced a neat finish beyond Alisson.

Liverpool ended the match with 32 attempts and an expected goals figure of 2.96, yet they were unable to seriously trouble Martin Dubravka late on.

The outcome leaves Arne Slot’s side having already stumbled at Anfield this season against Leeds, Nottingham Forest, Sunderland and Burnley.
