Liverpool make revenge, advance to next FA cup round

Andy Robertson’s brilliant second-half strike propelled Liverpool to a 3-1 victory over Wolves in the FA Cup fifth round.

Match Report

The left-back scored his first goal from outside the box for Liverpool shortly after halftime, breaking the deadlock. Mohamed Salah and Curtis Jones added further goals to secure Liverpool’s progress at Molineux, where they had suffered a Premier League defeat earlier in the week.

The first half was quiet, with Wolves failing to register a shot, and Cody Gakpo hitting the post for Liverpool while offside. The breakthrough came in the 51st minute when Robertson unleashed a powerful strike from around 25 yards, leaving Wolves goalkeeper Sam Johnstone with no chance. Two minutes later, Robertson’s cross was converted by Salah, with VAR overturning an initial offside call.

Curtis Jones sealed the win in the 74th minute, curling a left-footed effort past Johnstone after evading two defenders. Hwang Hee-chan scored a late consolation for Wolves in stoppage time.
