The winger for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Ademola Lookman, has cleared his Instagram page of all content related to his Italian club, Atalanta.
This move comes after the club turned down Inter Milan’s latest bid to acquire the 27-year-old forward.
On Friday, Atalanta rejected an offer of €42 million plus €3 million in add-ons from Inter Milan, standing firm on their €60 million valuation of Lookman, even though the player and the Nerazzurri are said to have agreed on personal terms.
In response to Atalanta’s decision, Lookman unfollowed the club on Instagram and removed its name from his bio.
He also deleted images and posts of himself in the team’s jersey, including his profile picture.
Meanwhile, Lookman was excluded from Atalanta’s squad for Saturday’s pre-season match against RB Leipzig in Germany.
According to reports, he sustained a calf injury and is expected to be sidelined for a few weeks.
Lookman signed for Atalanta from RB Leipzig in 2022 for €10.8 million and has netted 52 goals in 118 appearances for the Bergamo-based club.
He made history by scoring a hat-trick in the 2023/24 Europa League final, leading Atalanta to their first-ever European trophy.
Lookman currently holds the title of CAF African Footballer of the Year, taking over from Victor Osimhen, who won in 2023.
