Musiala collapses in Bayern comeback after scoring in Leipzig win [VIDEO]

Bayern Munich and Germany midfielder Jamal Musiala suffered a worrying collapse during the club’s pre-season victory over RB Leipzig on Saturday.

Bayern chief Max Eberl has moved to reassure fans, saying Musiala is doing well after the incident during the Telekom Cup clash, which Bayern won 3-1.

The 23-year-old went down in the closing stages, shortly after scoring Bayern’s third goal. Reports indicate that the intense heat in Bavaria may have contributed to the incident, with temperatures reaching around 33 degrees.

Musiala was seen staggering before falling, with Ismael Saibari among the first players to reach him. His Bayern teammates and medical staff quickly joined him, and he was eventually able to walk off the pitch after receiving treatment.

BILD reported that Musiala became dizzy during the game, with circulation problems believed to have contributed to the collapse.

Eberl said: “The most important thing is that he is well. There’s nothing more to say about anything else.”

The incident comes as Musiala continues his efforts to regain his previous form and fitness following a serious leg injury suffered during last summer’s Club World Cup.

The Bayern star also endured ankle problems last season as the German champions secured another Bundesliga title before being eliminated by Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League semi-final. A metal plate was later removed from his foot following Germany’s disappointing World Cup exit, which also saw him miss Bayern’s pre-season tour of Asia.

Musiala completed an individual rehabilitation programme before returning to team training on Monday. However, his first appearance since the injury ended in another setback when Vincent Kompany brought him on against Leipzig and he collapsed just 15 minutes into his comeback.

Bayern captain Manuel Neuer also expressed concern, saying: “It will become clear what it was. But of course we are keeping our fingers crossed.”

England captain Harry Kane and Michael Olise were among those watching from the stands after being given additional rest following their World Cup commitments.

Bayern will continue their preparations for the new season with a practice match against Heidenheim before facing Borussia Dortmund in the German Super Cup on August 22.
