Garba’s appointment has been confirmed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), following the recommendation of its technical committee.
The seasoned coach will be taking charge of the Golden Eaglets for the fourth time.
He previously led the team to victory at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates in 2013.
In the same meeting, the NFF Executive Committee also approved the appointment of Moses Aduku as the new head coach of the Falconets, replacing Chris Danjuma.
Aduku notably guided Edo Queens to win the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) title two years ago and served as assistant coach of the Falconets during their quarter-final run at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica in 2022.
Both Garba and Aduku are scheduled to officially assume their roles on Sunday, ahead of crucial fixtures.
The Falconets are set to face Rwanda in a 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier in September, while the Golden Eaglets will compete in the WAFU B U-17 Boys Tournament, which Nigeria will host the same month.
